Third International Conference on Communication Science
 
The Department of Communication Sciences at Bedër University College organized the Third International Conference on Media and Communication Studies (ICCMS) with the theme: "Communication and media developments in the age of misinformation and global challenges". ICCMS, in cooperation with the University of Tirana, the University of Pristina and the Albanian Media Institute, brought together 50 representative participants from 20 universities, from 40 different countries.
 
The first greeting was given by Dr. Erlis Çela, head of the Department of Communication Sciences at KU Bedër and at the same time the Chairman of the ICCSM 2022 Conference. Dr. Çela expressed his gratitude to all the participants in the conference, emphasizing once again its main purpose; bringing together academics, researchers, journalists, communication, information and media experts to share their experiences and research results on issues related to disinformation and the impact of global challenges.
Further, the rector of Bedër University College, Prof. Dr. Gjergj Sinani greeted the attendees and wished success to all researchers and speakers in the proceedings of ICCMS 2022. "People have only two ways to express their thoughts: speech and rights. The more naive they are, the more possible it is to control their thoughts," he said.
Vice Chancellor of the University of Tirana, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Bernard Dosti also expressed the honor of participating in this conference of international importance.
 
Invited as main speakers of this conference were Prof. Thomas A. BAUER, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Communication at the University of Vienna, Austria and Prof. Lindita Camaj, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at the "Jack J. Valenti" School of Communication, University of Houston in the United States of America.
Professor Bauer talked about the concept of socialization as something that has the meaning of being together. Crises such as climate change, democracy, war, pandemic, although at first glance they may seem like they have nothing in common, in fact they are all connected to each other through observation. "Communication is the "collapse" of reality. We do not describe things as they really are; we describe them, as we observe and perceive them" - said prof. Bauer.
Prof. Camaj spoke about audience logic as a cure for the "Crisis of Credibility" in Journalism. Professor Camaj's speech was accompanied by comments and questions from the audience. “The whole point is not just to report and reflect news to the audience; we must also find a solution for them" - she emphasized.
 
The conference continued with parallel on-site and online sessions divided into several sections, where participants presented their papers, fully engaging the audience and students in question-answers and comments. The topics of the papers were related to concepts such as: propaganda, disinformation, media and law, strategic communication, media narrative, online communication and media education, etc.
At the end of the conference, the present researchers and academics gave their impressions on the topics covered in the conference, evaluating everyone's research work.

Seventh Student Conference on Communication Sciences
 
The Department of Communication Sciences at "Bedër" University College held the 7th Student Conference in Communication Sciences with the theme "Challenges of communication in social media during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic".
 
The opening was made by the chairman of the Conference, head of the Department of Communication Sciences, Dr. Erlis Çela, who encouraged the continuous involvement of students in scientific research. The conference was also greeted by the rector of KUB Prof.Assoc.Dr. Rahim Ombashi, who congratulated the students on their works. Part of the opening ceremony was the journalist and communication expert, Mr. Mentor Kikia, who brought an overview of social media and its impact on public information processing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Bachelor and master level students presented their works focusing on media, communication, public relations and marketing during the period of the Covid-19 pandemic. During the presentations, they brought up national and international case studies, which stimulated panel discussions.
 
At the end of the sessions, the students were provided with certificates, where the jury evaluated the three best works, which were awarded with a symbolic amount.
 
Our department has a constant focus on the engagement of students in scientific research.

Fourth Student Conference on Communication Sciences

The Department of Communication Sciences organized today the Fourth Student Conference: "Communication in the Digital Age: Journalism, Public Relations and Political Communication".

The conference was attended by students from the University College Bedër and the University of Tirana, who presented their works. The conference provided a platform for discussing the impact of digital media on shaping policy, communication and public relations.

Through the exchange of experiences, students had the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest developments in this field, with the challenges and advantages that the digital media influence on the communication process.

At the end of the student conference, certificates were distributed to the participants as well as the award for the best work by the student, Alban Tufa, on the topic: "Propaganda through Poetry in the Magazines (" New World "," Our Literature "," Literature Our "and" Nerd ") organs of the former Association of Writers and Artists during 1945-1955".

Fake News, Media Problem, or Democracy? 

Department of Communication Sciences at the University College "Beder" organized a workshop on "Fake News, Media Problem or Democracy?"

The workshop was attended by the Ambassador of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Bernd Borchardt, Rector of Beder University College Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, Head of Communication Department at Beder University College Dr. Erlis Çela, Head of Department of Journalism and Communication at the University of Tirana, Prof.Assoc.Dr. Mark Marku, renowned analyst and journalist Lutfi Dervishi, Head of the Union of Journalists, Aleksandar Çipa, media manager and researcher, representatives of PR offices such as Fatos Hakorja, Roland Zili, Roland Qafoku, Pandi Gjata, Lazar Semini, Elda Gjoka, Eva Kushova, Dr. Ramadan Çipuri as well as lecturers and students of communication and journalism.

During the event discussed and debated a considerable number of participants who stressed the importance of organizing such tables to address a phenomenon that attracted the attention of media and audience researchers after discussing ways of healthy development of free speech, starting from the critical role that media professionals have, the discussion stops at the risk of "fake news" in the need to review the principles of journalism and stressing that the solution should be sought in the media education of audiences, controlling news sources before publication, as well as restoring the deontological and professional values ​​of journalism and more freedom of the media.

Media Relations with Audiences in the Digital Time 

Department of Communication Sciences at "Beder" University College organized a workshop on "Media Relations with Audiences in the Digital Time".  Participated in the panel discussion; Monika Stafa, Chairperson of the AMA (Audiovisual Media Authority) Thanas Goga, audience measurement expert and professor at the University of Tirana; Alexander Çipa, Head of the Union of Journalists; Dr. Erlis Çela, Head of the Department of Communication Sciences at Beder University College; Dr. Edlira Mali, a lecturer at the same department, and Doc. Dr. Ramadan Çipuri, lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Communication at the University of Tirana.

During the workshop panelists discussed about audiences in the digital age, building a media market, ethics and deontology of the media in Albania as well as the challenges of the journalist in the face of modernity today.

A special emphasis was put on the lack of reliable statistics on audience measurement as well as the need for media studies that would assist AMA to take concrete steps to regulate the media market.

Minors in the Media Objective 

The University College Bedër in cooperation with the Audiovisual Media Authority and the Albanian Center for Public Communication held a workshop on " Minors in the Media Objective". The workshop was organized in the library premises of U.C Beder and panel were Director of the AMA Program Directorate, Arben Muka, AFP correspondent (Agence France-Presse) in Albania, Briseida Mema, Correspondents and "The Associated Press" Llazan Semini, President of the Union of Journalists, Alexander Çipa, Coordinator for Public Relations and Media in the Western Balkans Fund, Alban Tartari, as well as a well-known pedagogue and writer, Agron Tufa.

During the workshop, under the moderation of Head of Communication Department at U.C Beder, Dr. Erlis Çela, discussed the current situation in the media handling of the juvenile figure and the programming dedicated to this age. Dr. Ramadan Çipuri and Mr. Alban Tartari shared with the participants the experiences and results during the work of this project at the workshops organized in some of the cities of our country with local media journalists. Also discussed were the current laws and the role of training organizations and the deployment of media regulators related to the image of children's figure and ethical standards in television and other media. At the end of the workshop, students shared their thoughts on the topic.

International Conference on Media and Communication Studies

The Department of Communication Sciences at Beder University College, in cooperation with the Audiovisual Media Authority, the Department of Journalism and Communication at the University of Tirana and the AAB College in Prishtina, organized the second edition of the International Conference on Media and Communication Studies on " Challenges of local and regional broadcasters in the face of online access to their services ". During the opening ceremony were attended by different personalities from academia, media representatives and numerous journalists, scholars, university rectors, representatives of public and private institutions and a considerable number of students of journalism and communication.

Doc. Dr Ramadan Chipuri, Head of Communication Department at WHO Bedr, at the same time chairman of this conference, during his greeting speech after thanking the participants for participating in this edition of ICCMS, expressed his enthusiasm for continued readiness and trust with the co-operative institutions on such platforms similar to today's. He further shared with the participants the methodology followed in carrying out the study in the service of exploring new findings on the topic of this conference.

Rector of the KU Beder, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, focused on the three main components of the success of a higher education institution. According to him, the quality of teaching, social contribution and scientific research materialized in conferences or similar activities are fundamental not only in the institution's lifespan but also in the company's marketplace of young cadres or findings such as those of this conference. "The importance of this project lies in addressing the concrete issues of media developments in our country and the results will be important not just as scientific findings or as academic findings, but also to turn to favoring media policies in terms of our society "- he said.

While the Chairman of the Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA) Gentian Sala, once again reiterated the two years strong co-operation between the institution he leads and the Bedër University. "Multiple projects between AMA and public and private universities in this area are a clear indicator of the vision to reconsider many aspects of the media or information as a whole concept," said Mr. Sala.

Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication at the University of Tirana, Prof.Asoc.Dr. Mark Mark expressed the pleasure of this cooperation related to the interests and common areas where the two departments coordinate. He also stressed that this conference is of particular importance as it is part of a process that AMA has been opening for two years, which is related to the transformation of the media system. "Albanian institutions need to work harder with research in these areas so that we are not only dependent on foreign studies," he concluded.

Dr. Hasan Saliu, deputy rector for scientific research at AAB University College in his address speech, after conveying the maximum ratings for this organization, stressed that cooperation between Tirana and Pristina especially in the field of media is of particular importance although it may not be at the right level as there is currently no concrete obstacle to further deepening this cooperation.

While the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Public media, Genc Pollo, focused on the importance of having such scientific projects at the common public benefit, the fulfillment of the right of information to the general public, the healthy role of democracy, and the contribution to coping with today's media challenges in the country our. He further expressed personal concern over the government's efforts to close certain news portals and various profiles in social media, particularly during election campaigns.

The conference proceedings continued in different sessions with reference to dozens of scholars from Macedonia, Kosovo and beyond. Among the many topics that were addressed and brought to focus were: "Informality in the local media and regulatory powerlessness of the law enforcement authority", "Local media and their impact on civic engagement through social media", "Transition of local media in Kosovo" , "Macedonia and the Multiple Challenges of a Two-Language Media Market".

 3 May 2016                                                                                                                                                                   The Challenges of the Cultural Press

In May 3rd, the world press freedom day, the Department of Communication Sciences organized a panel on "The Challenges of the Cultural Culinary Press in Albania". Given the importance that this type of press has played in the country's history, as well as in the history of the Albanian media, this 3 May devoted itself to this problematic one.

Prof. Agron Tufa, who also moderated the panel discussion, estimated that the cultural press has played an important role in the country's historic moments, but that today it is facing numerous financial difficulties, which has led to its fading.

Mr. Behar Gjoka, publisher of the magazine "Mirror of Confessions", said that Albania is one of the only places where culture and literature take partisan festivities. He said the literary and cultural press is being held only thanks to their individual initiatives committed to this field, but the need to find financial resources to further them is felt.

Another participant in the panel, Mrs. Alda Bardhyli, editor of the online magazine "SARAS", admitted that the funding of state institutions for the literary and cultural press is very low, which does not help his development at all.

Mrs. Elvana Zaimi explained her experience with the  "Word", which was only released between 2000 and 2006, while after a few years of release, thanks to her efforts, the release appears in an online version as "Fjalareview". According to Zaimi, the preservation and development of this area is very difficult to resist only thanks to the ideal of individuals.

Meanwhile, the participants also stressed the lack of interest of Albanian citizens on cultural press.

Albanian media convergence, ethics and trustworthiness

The Department of Communication Sciences at Bedër University held workshops on "Convergence of Albanian Media, Discussion on Ethics and Credibility".

The Referrer Panel, led by Dr. Ramadan Çipuri, consisted of various representatives of traditional and new media, as well as by specialists and scholars of the field.

During his speech, Mr. Çipuri appreciated the need for a re-conceptualization of mass media and audiences, depending on the conditions they are operating as a mass communication tool, as well as audiences. Of significance were the assessments made on the ethics aspect in the new media, where Prof.Dr. Briseida Mema, Erlis Çela and Mr. Emirjon Senja discussed the necessary of applying codes of ethics, legislation that would regulate these media, etc.

Editor-in-chief of the NOA news agency, Mr.Edison Kurani, discussed the issue of using information sources, the importance of tires and the way they were used by information portals. According to him, this continues to be a serious problem. While Mr. Olti Curri discussed the phenomenon of anonymous communication in social media.

To continue with Dr. Edlira Mali, who in her referral discussed the methods used by different companies to attract audiences through social networks and other internet opportunities. Dr. Arben Muka analyzed the issue of adapting the radio product to the conditions of convergence and development of new media.

The activity continued with the comments of other participants such as Mr. Agim Baçi, Mrs. Diana Kalaja, Mrs. Sega Musta, Dr.Agron Tufa, and others.

Researchers from 11 countries and 21 different universities, gathered at ICCMS 2015
 
Researchers from 11 countries and 21 different universities, gathered at the international conference on communication and media studies, discussed about developments and challenges that media industry faces.
Academics and professionals of  media field, coming from France, Ireland, Turkey, Belgium, Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia, referred their scientific papers aiming to provide answers to dilemmas and problems that technological changes have brought to media industry.
 
Topics of the conference included sharing information on scientific research, development, media industry applications, social media, marketing, political communication, etc. New reports of media ownership have also brought new relations between owners of media product, its quality, advertisers, politicians and other stakeholders.
 
In his opening speech, rector of ’Hëna e Plotë’’ Beder University, Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, after welcoming the referees and participants, raised the importance of treating such topics in terms of digitalization and new media trends.
 
Prof. Artan Fuga, head of Journalism and Communication Department at Tirana University, focused on the dynamics of recent years, where traditional media is being challenged by new communication tools. New digital media is creating dilemmas and questions, about the effectiveness, credibility and audience. He mentioned the importance of organizing the conference in partnership with several institutions, wishing that referees, through their works, will answer questions about recent developments in the media industry.
 
Deputy Ambassador of France to Albania, Didier Guilbert expressed his honors for participating in this important international conference, considering new communication platforms conditions. He noted the close cooperation between ’Hëna e Plotë’’ Beder University and French Embassy in various activities within the terms of Francophonie.
 
Prof. Dr. Briseida Mema, as the chairwoman of the conference, focused on the relevance and importance of  discussing topics related to media industry. She stressed that technology progresses rapidly and in this regard researchers, journalists and media people have to walk on the same rhythm so to not be left behind technological developments. Ms. Mema expressed her gratitude for the support that French Embassy has consistently provided in these activities within the framework of Francophonie.
 
Mr. Alfred Peza, deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Public Information Means, thanked ’Hëna e Plotë’’ Beder University for organizing this conference, noting that such activities serve not only to media professionals, but also to public and policymakers. Mr. Peza focused on the process of transition to digital broadcasting as an international obligation.
 
Prof. Eric Scherer from France, director of "Future Media" on French television was invited as the keynote speaker of the conference. Professor Scherer presented 10 challenges of the digital revolution, as well as changes that media industry should adapt.
 
Professor Scherer, author of ''Do we still need journalists'' essay, stressed that social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat etc, are spreading so fast, while traditional media is trying to integrate these new forms of communication. He also said that media entrepreneurship is difficult and digitalization brings the need for experts in this field.
 
International Conference on communication and media studies on topic "media industry, trends, dynamics and challenges', was organized by Department of Communication Sciences at ’Hëna e Plotë’’ Beder University, in collaboration with Department of Journalism and communication at Tirana University, "Ipek University" in Ankara, University of Pristina, and the Union of Journalists of Albania.

Workshop on curriculum programs of department of Communication Sciences
 
As part of the continuous improvement of the curriculum and its adaption with the programs offered in Western countries, as well as updation with the latest literature, Department of Communication Sciences at Hëna e Plotë Bedër  University held a workshop, which was attended by the experts, professors and researchers of the field.
 
In the one day meeting there were discussed the curriculum and all the materials that programs at Department of Communication Sciences include: Bachelor in Communication Sciences, Master of Science in Communication Science in Journalism and Public Relations profiles.
 
The discussion leader of the workshop was vice head of the department Mr. Ramadan Çipuri, who considered very important the need for continuous review of university curricula, which according to him should be updated with developments in the sector and with the most recent literature.
 
As was discussed in general for the curriculum, later on all the content was analized with cases in detail, so to prevent the repetition of themes and literature.
 
During the discussions, a special importance was given to the methods that should be practiced for a more effective teaching.
 
The workshop was an initiative proposed by the Council of Quality Assurance at Bedër University.

Regional Workshop on "Media language of Albanian speaking media" held
 
In the framework of the World Day of Press Freedom, Department of Communication Sciences at Hëna e Plotë (Bedër) University in collaboration with the Union of Journalists, organized a regional Workshop on " media language of albanian speaking media " topic.
 
This event was attended by nearly 40 media representatives from Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia, mainly of visual media, print and the online, as well as a significant number of students of communication sciences department.
 
Keynote speakers at this panel were the prominent analysts Mr.Kim Mehmeti and Mr.Lutfi Dervishi. But it should be noted that throughout this activity all participants shared their point of  view, professional experience and referred about the theme of the workshop.
 
Firstly, Mr. Ramadan Çipuri vice director of the Department of Communication Sciences at Hëna e Plotë (Bedër) University gave his speech, who after welcoming the attendees raised for discussion the topic of the workshop and made a short summary about the importance and actuality of the media in Albanian speaking territories.
 
After the welcoming speech, Mr. Lutfi Dervishi gave his speech too. He discussed about current problems and issues on Albanian speaking media in the region, emphasizing the economy of the media and its impact not just on journalists but also at journalism, which is offered us as a result of this fact.
 
While the known analyst Mr. Mehmeti gave a description and analysis of the current situation in the region about Albanian speaking media, considering the  commonalities and differences that these medias have, as well as finding a way to fill them with factors that have been absent so far.
 
To proceed further with this discussion, Mr. Alexander Çipa, Chairman of the Union of Journalists emphasized on finding a common language in Albanian-speaking media and collaboration on improving the conditions in which journalism is made today in Albania, Kosovo and Macedonia.
 
The activity continued with numerous discussions by the participants on the workshop topic.

Culture and education as communication bridges between Albania and France
 
“Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University, in cooperation with the Embassy of France in Tirana, on the occasion of Francophonie week, organized a panel on "Culture and education as communication bridges between Albania and France".
 
 The panel was conceived as a round table, where guests coming from academic, media, culture and art area, shared ideas and discussed about the role that culture and education have in strengthening the relations between Albania and France.
 
Rector of “Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University, Dr. Ferdinand Gjana, after welcoming the participants in the panel focused on the importance of exchanging values between cultures, noting that the purpose of organizing this event is an attempt to give a contribution in this direction.
 
For her part, the French Ambassador, Mrs. Christine Moro expressed satisfaction with the organization of this event and noted that embassy desires to collaborate with the university in organizing similar activities. She explained a historical account of the relations between Albania and France, focusing on the major role that French Lyceum of Korca played. Meanwhile, underlined the fact that cultural exchanges between the two countries, although they have a long history, in the recent years are intensified, citing prominent names of Albanian literature and art, who represent Albanian culture in France, such as Ismail Kadare, Fatos Kongoli, Inva Mula etc.
 
Minister of Culture, Ms. Mirela Kumbaro, after congratulating the organizers for the panel, said that education and culture are important communication bridges between the two countries. "In 2016 we have the 100th anniversary of the French presence in Albania. I fully agree with the topic of panel and I consider very important that along public institutions, also private universities pay attention to French culture and the relations between two countries. This is a very important indicator and for this I thank the Embassy of France and the Bedër University for organizing this panel. "- said the Minister.
 
Then, Ms. Mimoza Hafizi, deputy of  Socialist Party and also chairwoman of Albania-France friendship group in the Parliament, gave her speech too. Ms. Hafizi spoke about the  establishment of  friendship group in the Assembly and education of albanian students in France, considering this as a good opportunity to get to know French culture. Other panelists, as Prof. Dr. Petrit Malaj, Prof. Dr. Shezai Rokaj Prof. Dr. Mark Mark and Mr. Aleksander Cipa, shared their views on the subject and gave concrete proposals in order to strengthen the relations between Albania and France.
 
At the end of the discussion, panelists and numerous guests attended in the opening of photographic exhibition: "Albanian Realities under the AFP objective’’ work of photojournalist Genti Shkullaku. The exhibition consisted of 30 photographs from the Albanian reality in the last 3-4 years.

Bedër University organizes the second student conference: "Communication, media and social responsibility"
 
Department of Communication Sciences at ''Hëna e Plotë'' (Bedër) University organized the second student conference with the theme: "Communication, media and social responsibility". In this conference were presented 18 scientific papers and reports written by third year students of the bachelor level.
 
The conference was opened with the welcoming speech by the vice-chairperson of the Department of Communication Sciences also chairman of the conference, phd cand. Ramadan Çipuri, who thanked the guests for their participation and students for the work done. During his speech, he highlighted the importance that research means to communication science students, in addition to theoretical training they receive in the auditorium, as well as development of professional practices in various media.
 
The conference was also welcomed by the Rector of the University "Hëna e Plotë "(Bedër), Dr. Ferdinand Gjana. Before students started to present in the conference room, Dr. Gjana praised the work of the Department of Communication Sciences, which, according to him, has been very active in the three years since the opening of the    "Hëna e Plotë" (Bedër) University.
 
Prof.Assoc.Dr. Rahim Ombashi, a lecturer in the department, considered the student research as an added value to current achievements in this institution of higher education in Albania. He emphasized the importance that contains the research of students, as a way that directly affects their intellectual formation and contribution to society.
 
Later on, the conference continued with student presentations, which were divided into three sessions. In the first session, titled: "Ethics and social responsibility in journalism ", referred  six students. In the second session, titled " Screen, power and its impact on social life", six other students presented their works. The third session was a little more special, with the title "Social reality through the genre of reportage'',some  other students presented their reportage realized on different themes.
 
At the end of the conference, certificates were distributed to students who referred.

Student Conference on the theme "Media and Politics"

The relationship between media and politics, one of the most discussed issues by the Albanian public at early 90s, was the topic of the Student Conference "Media and Politics", organized by the Department of Communication Sciences at Hëna e Plotë, Bedër University. The opening session of the conference was attended by important personalities from academics, politics and media representatives, who valued the work of the conference as a positive step in the academic formation of students and the discussion of such topics to another level.

Head of the Department of Communication Sciences, Mr Ramadan Çipuri, president of the conference, emphasized the importance of research in the field of media and politics. Meanwhile, the Rector of the Hëna e Plotë, Bedër University, Dr.Ferdinand Gjana, in his welcoming speech briefed the participants on the mission and accomplishment up to date.

Speaker 's Commission on Education and Means of Public Information, Valentina Leskaj stressed that the discussion of the relationship between media and politics at a student conference has a special significance. Mrs.Leskaj said that although the relationship between politics and media in years, and also the difficulties in this area, there has been a progress.  

The conference welcomed the Rector of the Polytechnic University of Tirana, Prof.Dr. Jorgaq Kacani, Rector of the European University of Tirana, Prof.As.Dr. Tonin Gjuraj, Mr. Clive Rumbold, First Secretary and Head of the Political Section of the EU Delegation in Tirana, and the prominent journalist Blendi Fevziu.

National Scientific Conference: “Media Role in national identity formation and consolidation”
 
The department of Communication Sciences of “Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University organized the national conference titled  “Media Role in national identity formation and consolidation” in 100th anniversary of Albanian Independence Day.
 
In their speeches academicians coming from various universities and specialists of media field mentioned arguments regarding the beginnings, development and consolidation of the national identity and media position in this long-lasting process. A future debate that needs further scientific work is also `Kosovo identity` and `Albanian identity`.

Mark Marku in his speech stressed that in the second half of the XIX century when the book culture was absent, the written press was the only mean that helped the construction and the prevailing of the national identity. Among the arguments he also said that language was the only institution that identified the national identity. 
 
To follow up, Doc. Dr. Agron Tufa focused on the debate “Kosovo identity” and “Albanian identity”, that according to him, it is associated with a formation of a new brand Albanian language apart from the standard one.

Workshop : Challenges of Albanian Media in ''World Day of Press Freedom''

The Department of Communication Sciences at Hëna e Plotë (Bedër) University, in cooperation with the Department of Journalism at the University of Tirana, the Union of Journalists and the Albanian Media Institute, in the World Day of Press Freedom organized the workshop with the theme" Challenges of Albanian Media".

The Head of the Department of Communication at Hëna e Plotë - Bedër University, Mr.Ramadan Çipuri, Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication at the University of Tirana, Prof.Dr.Artan Fuga, Director of the Union of Albanian Journalists, Mr. Aleksander Cipa, distinguished analysts and also a representative of the Albanian Media Institute, Mr.Lutfi Dervishi, two university professors and distinguished media executives, discussed key issues and challenges that faces Albanian media. The main points of the discussion were ethical issues in the media, journalist's hard conditions and prospects of technological developments.

Mr. Ramadan Çipuri in his speech, referring to the latest data report published by "Freedom House", said that despite the problems that Albanian Media faces, there have been positive developments. The analyst Lutfi Dervishi, in his speech, focused on ethical issues in the Albanian media, emphasizing the lack of ethical codes and their application. Mr. Aleksander Cipa referred about the situation that media section employees face, in particular journalists working in the Albanian Media. Head of the Department of Journalism at the University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Artan Fuga discussed the issue of journalistic challenges in terms of technological transformation.

Workshop: Albanian Local media facing technology challenges and the time reality
 
 
On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, the Department of Communication Sciences at “Hëna e Plotë” (Bedër) University, in cooperation with the Albanian Union of Journalists and the Albanian Media Institute organized on 03.05.2013 the workshop on "Albanian Local media facing technology challenges and the time reality "
 
The workshop subject attracted the attention of 31 different media representatives of local, and national. In this event referred the Head of the Department of Communication Sciences at HPBU, Ramadan Çipuri, Ambassador of the Republic of France in Tirana, Mrs. Christine Moro, The Vice-President of the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Public Information Means Mr. Mark Mark, the Head of the Albanian Union of Journalists Mr. Aleksandër Çipa, the President of the Local Television Network Mr. Edmond Isaku etc.
 
Mr.Çipuri in his speech focused on the current situation in which local media are facing. According to him, the media in general is facing a new technological reality, where the Internet is becoming a platform for all of them. "We live in times when everything is united and gathered on the internet, as a common platform for this entire media. Operators are increasingly bringing equipment with cheaper cost. This means that in a short future in Albania people will have access to the internet and media services at low cost. “he said.
 
On the other hand, Mrs. Christine Moro, the ambassador of Republic of France, after praising the event organization in a very important day for freedom of the press, made a reflection on the reality of media freedom in the world, the problems often encountered by journalists to illustrate with examples from the French media market. Mrs. Moro was later stressed on issues related to media ethics as a critical element.
